Set with a stunning Noosa backdrop, students will learn the tricks to creating an Indonesian banquet with a hands-on cooking adventure instructed by a Dutch-Indonesian cook, that includes a sit down meal and wines to match.
With influences from Malaysia, India and China, Indonesian food is an eclectic mixture of delicious herbs and spices to truly tantalise the taste buds. With this Indonesian Banquet Cooking Class, students will be fortunate enough to unlock the secrets of authentic Indonesian food with their Dutch-Indonesian cooking guru sharing his mother and grandmother’s traditional recipes.
This Indonesian banquet or a “rijsttafel”, which literally translates to “rice table”, includes 8 unbelievably tasty recipes taught in a friendly, fun and social atmosphere in a gorgeous Noosa setting. All recipes and instructions, including class notes will be available in a handy folder for the students to take away with them to recreate the dishes perfectly.
Upon arrival, participants will be welcomed with a freshly baked muffin and a café quality coffee to enjoy on the property’s veranda overlooking a tropical garden and Noosa National Park, before getting into the really good stuff – the hands-on cooking experience.
The rijsttafel will include the likes of chicken sate with a peanut sauce; succulent beef rendang; stir fried green beans in coconut milk; tasty spiced tempeh; the classic nasi goreng; an Indonesian cucumber salad; lemongrass infused steam jasmine rice; and the beautiful black sticky rice with seasonal fruit and coconut cream to finish it all off with a sweet treat.
After learning the secrets of simple and delicious Indonesian cuisine, they participants will have the opportunity to sit down and try all of their efforts with full sized servings, complete with 2 glasses of wine each – matched to perfectly suit the dishes. What better way to end a fantastic day?
