Get Your French On Cooking Class, PER
Generations Of Technique & Delight
The meticulous perfection of delicious French dishes is something recognised the world over, but what people often don’t know is that this came from being the first culture to officially record their ingredients and techniques – thus creating the recipe! So to preserve traditional methods throughout the generations, the French began documenting their methods centuries ago, beginning a necessary process that we now often take for granted!
Guided through by enthusiastic and experienced chefs devoted to passing on their tips and tricks, and sharing their passion for everything food, our Get Your French On – French Cooking Class will teach students exciting new techniques and methods rather than simply following a recipe. It will showcase cuisine as art, through its flavours, and importantly, as a way to connect people and foster a sense of community.
The class is based in West Perth, and goes for around 3 hours. Throughout the course, students will work together in groups to produce 6 incredible French dishes – learning all sorts of amazing skills, while making new friends with their classmates. The 6 dishes to be prepared are:
- Seared scallops with truffle, herbs, and Jerusalem artichoke cream (GF)
- Confit of duck, duck jus, and blueberry (GF)
- Flower, asparagus and French leaf salad (GF)
- Crispy duck fat potatoes (GF)
- Dark chocolate soufflé
- Burnt butter and fleur de sel chocolate sauce (GF)
Possibly the best part of the whole class is at the end… here students will come together to reap the rewards of their hard work – feasting on their delectable dishes. The class is licenced for BYO, so bring along some drinks to enjoy with the beautiful food. Each student will be given their own copy of the recipes made in class, to ensure they can make it time and time again in the comfort of their own kitchen.
For comfort and practicality, participants should all come donned in comfortable clothing, and wear some closed shoes for safety. Also, those with long hair should tie it back, and all students must be 16 years of age and above. Perfect for those with no experience whatsoever, this class is great for beginners.
