Cheese is truly one of life’s pleasures – indulging in gorgeous dairy delights, matched with perfect flavours to enhance its beauty – enjoyed with friends and family, or a merely as a staple in the home! Set in gorgeous natural surrounds only half an hour from Perth city, our Classic Delights Cheese Making Course teaches students to produce gorgeous artisan cheeses, sour cream, yoghurt cheese and yoghurt from the comfort of their own home.
Imagine endless supplies of these delicious dairy basics available at all times for a fraction of the cost, and the satisfaction of making it at home. Throughout the day, their teacher, passionate about all things cheese, will demonstrate from start to finish, giving professional tips and techniques to avoid common mistakes and managing milk and cultures.
At the beginning of the course, students will each be given their own ‘Classic Delights Home Cheese Making Guide’ book, and an apron sporting ‘The Cheese Maker’, both to take home to inspire their cheese making journey. Their course will encompass mastering several artisan delights; avoiding the sugars, additives, preservatives and costs of some commercial products.
Students will learn the art of creating fetta, ricotta, sour cream, yoghurt cheese and yoghurt, as well as professional techniques and tips to marinating, flavouring, presenting and serving. Think gorgeous plain fetta on a cheese board or a roast dinner with rosemary; or marinated in chilli and/or garlic and presented in a gorgeous jar as a gift; think ricotta paired with spinach for all sorts of homemade goodies; or sour cream to use on those baked potatoes; yoghurt cheese hand-rolled to perfection and presentation; or tangy yoghurt ideal to serve with gorgeous summer fruits… the options are indeed endless!
Included in the course is both morning and afternoon tea, consisting of gorgeous quality loose leaf tea or aromatic coffee and cake, overlooking the stunning Susannah Brook, as well as numerous tastings throughout the day. They will also enjoy a gourmet lunch of mixed artisan cheese platters and the perfect accompaniments, a delicious glass of wine from the on-site winery, and will take home a block of feta made in the class.
Ideal for those of any skill level – the only requirement is to love their cheese! All recipes will be taught from scratch, making it easy to follow and get creative at home – and all the necessary equipment needed at home can be bought on the day, too.
